How targeted PEMF works
A non-thermal radio signal that amplifies the body's own anti-inflammatory cascade — no drug, no heat.
The signal
SofPulse emits short ~2-millisecond bursts of a 27.12 MHz radio-frequency carrier, about twice per second, at an amplitude near 4 microtesla. It is non-thermal and non-invasive — roughly 1,000 times less power than holding a mobile phone to your head — yet tuned precisely enough to have a biological effect.
The calcium–calmodulin–nitric oxide pathway
The signal is configured to accelerate the binding of calcium (Ca²⁺) to calmodulin (CaM). Calcium-bound calmodulin activates the constitutive nitric-oxide synthases (eNOS / nNOS), which release nitric oxide (NO) — a principal anti-inflammatory and vasodilatory signaling molecule. Downstream: increased local blood flow, a measurable drop in inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1β, reduced edema and pain, and accelerated tissue repair.
Why there are no systemic side effects
tPEMF doesn't introduce a drug — it amplifies a response the body already runs, the same nitric-oxide cascade released during exercise and injury. Tissue responds only where inflammation is present, so there is no overdose pathway. The four on-device phases — apply, activate, heal, recover — are simply this one cascade unfolding over minutes to days.
What the patient experiences
Nothing perceptible. There is no heat, no tingling, no vibration, no sound. The device is placed over clothing or a dressing directly above the treatment area. The patient presses a button, or the device runs automatically. For the duration of the 15-minute session, the patient feels exactly what they would feel sitting in a quiet room holding a piece of plastic. That absence of sensation is not a sign it isn't working — it is a direct consequence of the non-thermal, low-amplitude field physics.
Why the physics matter clinically
Non-thermal means no heat is delivered to tissue — there is no burn pathway, no thermal injury risk, and no sensation. Non-ionizing means the photon energy at 27.12 MHz is far below the threshold required to remove electrons from atoms (~3 petahertz), so there is no DNA damage mechanism. No current enters the body, so there is no electrode burn and no cardiac-conduction risk. The device amplifies a normal physiological pathway using an external field that is gentler than ordinary environmental electromagnetic exposure. This is why 18 patents protect the specific waveform — the safety is a consequence of precision, not luck.
